hoover50008
Excellent sound as usual. One observation though, unlike 20's and 37's the 50's didn't have any form of electrical lub oil priming pump (or triple pump which is a Sulzer thing) the oil priming pump was a hand operated pump. There was a fuel lift pump which was barely audible from the outside of the loco, therefore the cold start sequence should be like the warm start with no priming just a clunk when the start contactor went in followed by the engine motoring over and firing. This is the same issue as on the Howe's sound chip. I believe one has been fitted in preservation which is more than likely the one which was recorded but they never had them in BR days so would be good to have the option of not having the priming sound on the chip at cold start. That said it is a good recording and up to the usual Biff standard. E
gwr5786
Wow, that is one of the best sounds I've heard! I love the cold start chugging, just need the clouds of clag, I could do with an un-refurbished 37 with that! Excellent work.
