I've noticed that when I try to search for posts from other members profiles it appears that only the most recent are listed. I can usually remember what I've read recently, but tracking down some half remembered pertinent point Captain Kernow may have made about parsnip transport over the S&DJR from a couple of months ago becomes challenging. Actually parsnips is a bad example because the search funtion would probably get me there, but if the post was about cattle wagons then I'd be presented with a huge number of results.

 

Is there a way to search for older posts/topics through the profile?

The way to find the results is to use Advanced Search: click the white cog wheel symbol to the right of the search box.

 

Then you can enter the words to search for, and the author's user name. Getting the user name right can be a bit tricky because some of them have odd capital letters, spaces, etc., and you must enter it exactly correct as shown on their posts.

Thank you Martin, I never realised that there was an advanced search function. I'm sure that it'll help locate stuff that's fallen between the gaps in my memory.
