witherbrow
Evening all im trying to find information about a railtour that must have taken place around 1999-2001. it involved two of the first batch of class 66 engines and was called 'Route 66' imaginatively enough! now my memory of it is from standing outside my house hearing a throaty diesel (thinking it was an oil/container train to tilbury) but then seeing a shiny new 66 with about 8 Southern mk1s? and then another shiny new 66 at the rear i know this tour was featured in the t&rs bit of rail express magazine but i cannot find any information about it at all i can only assume this train was on route to Shoeburyness (i lived in Rainham at the time) mostly id like to know the route around the country it took but any information is most welcome kind regards - Ash
Glorious NSE
The six bells junction site has a tour of that name, but it didn't go on the LT&S? http://www.sixbellsjunction.co.uk/90s/981128hr.htm I searched on 'route' in 1998 to 2002 and that was the only one to come up. Glorious NSE
Might be worth having a dig around that site: http://www.sixbellsjunction.co.uk as it's got very good coverage of railtours over the years, it might be there was a similar one in that direction at some point?
