Bernard Lamb
I came across this a few weeks ago. At first glance it's a perfectly normal railway company bench, cast iron end and leg units, with wooden slats for the seat and back with the station name on the back. But on closer inspection there are a few anomalies. Where is it nowadays? Where is the station as per the name? What's the connection? I know the answers to these questions but can any one answer these and/or come up with more information? Putting it here rather than in prototype questions might be a clue. RMweb Premium petethemole Posted December 20, 2009 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 20, 2009 It's obviously in a church, so a quick search found it. It's in the church at Elsworth, Cambridgeshire. Elsbridge station is on the Island of Sodor. Elsworth was once one of Wilbert Awdry's parishes. The bench was originally GER. Pete

I have traced them back there to around 1520. The parish had a habit of welcoming rather odd ball rectors. Wilbert Awdry wrote several of the Thomas books while there. It's nice to see that somebody in Elsworth in the present day has a sense of humor. Bernard
