RMweb Premium PaternosterRow Posted July 28, 2012 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 28, 2012 Just finished watching the ceremony. Absolutely brilliant and a massive congratulations to Danny Boyle and all of the organizers and participants. The highlights for me - the chimneys rising out of the countryside, the molten rings, the celebration of British film and music, that fantastic Olympic torch at the end, even the six billion bits of paper - it was all very well thought out. I remember groaning when I saw David Beckham atop the mock London Bus at the Beijing closing ceremony four years ago and thinking that GB would never pull it off. An even bigger inward groan when the green theme was first revealed about a month ago - special emphasis had been placed on the 10 chickens in particular and I remember thinking how much rain would have to fall in order to wash the egg off the faces of the organizers when the debacle was all over. I take it all back - best ever opening ceremony I've ever seen. A creative history lesson that has championed British achievement for once. Well done team GB - now lets win some medals.
