Hi all

Just a quick update. Nearly all the basic scenic plastering has been completed and some of the basic painting has completed.

A departure from the building in situ for the scrubbers on the vertical lime kilns has been the arrval of one of Europes largest cranes http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_wow.gif that will lift the last scrubber into place. It takes a day to errect the crane on site. Will post some shots of this when the final lift is in place.

Hi All

Just arrived back from GTD and the crane has arrived and been set up for the final big lift tomorrow lifting the last scrubber in place. A couple of shots of the crane enclosed.

Some of the track has been sprayed inside the unit but nearly chocked us with the spray this will have to be done outside by dismantling the layout inside and errecting it outside. Will keep you posted.

Hi all

well I have final started to spay the track and here is the first shots of it. Other work that has been done has been the building of the two tunnel mouths wich are now on the paintind bench at home and will it is hoped be installed in the next few days. Also work on the main buildings is coming along but the other day ground the tip of my finger will the belt sander http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_frustrated.gif while thining some part down.Any way ashot of the back of the scubbers showing the piping coming out from the top of the klins.

The main new is that the large crane place the last scrubber in place so the klins can now be completed so some shots of this takeing place. And details needed due us a reply.

The track paint is Precision Paints Track Dirt (matt) sprayed with a touch up gun. Normally I would have sprayed the track before the scenics being done but on this layout many things have been done wrong way round. The problem is that you cannot get in with the gun as it is to large and causes over spray and uses to much paint. Need to get a new small one.

It's coming along now, with the track being sprayed and some colour added to the cliff faces. Good to see that the curtain rail hooks solved the problem of the pipe bends on the limekilns pipework. Hi Dave

Its not the actual marking out that is the problem but the cutting of them. One of the troubles that I have is that i have Arthritis in both my wrists http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_mad.gif and cutting down square with the saw is hard going for me so I use a X acto mitre block for the cutting of all my girder sections, tubes etc but they only have the 90 45 degrees on them so after I have marked say 35 degree angle with the protractor it is hard to cut it square.

Update this wek is not to much work has been done due editing the HMRS Points newsletter. Anyway some more spraying of the track has been completed but my small spay gun is playing up so it is becoming very time consuming. Hi All

Well Friday 13th has lived up to its day with me. first this morning my trusted spary gun used on the track packs in and I cae home from the unit a bit Fed Up http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif So I decided to spray some of the lime kilns with my good air brush and guess what ? Yes you have it my good air brush has packed in still with alot of spraying to do. Mined you with hind sight I should have sprayed many of the items individually. Most remeber that in future. Dose any one else have problems like this. Anyway some shots of the spraying to date.

Yes , just when you thought you had all that spare time to paint and air brush it turns into "maintenance time", and nothing gets done .i think i,ve replaced nearly all the bolt on parts of my compressor over the last 4 years ,what was that in Fools and Horses ,"I,ve had this brush for 15 years ........5 heads and 8 handles, ................your structures are superb and stand up very well to close scrutiny ,where as mine ......................mmmm?

Thanks for the comments. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_thumbsup2.gif Gave up on the spraying and obtained a cheap and nasty ??????‚??3.99 air brush to finish track spraying. Did most of the job but a little over spray. One thing though I forgot to wear a mask and spent 4 hours in the unit with out realising the fumes and fog of the spraying was getting on my chest. Have spent today cutting out the windows in the South Works building back at the Centre so that the fog will clear in the unit. Will post some views of this when I have assembled it together tonight.

Hi All

A bit of bad news went down to the unit tonight toget some items and found that the roof windows in the roof over the layout have leaked yet again with the heavy rain http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif . The landlords have stated that they would be done but we are still waiting. At present the end board up of the fiddle yard is a little wet http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_evil.gif and a small amunt has gone on the front boards at the entrance to the main hopper yard http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_evil.gif Any way the whole layout is coverd in bin liners with some old empty ice cream tubs to catch the drips. just hope that it will be ok in the morning. Will keep you all posted.#
