AndrewC
To celebrate the 100th Grey Cup in Canada (Canadian football, bigger field, bigger balls than the yanks) there is going to be a 70 day Cross Canada trip by train to promote the festivities. Any Canadian worth his maple leaf has been to at least one Grey Cup party. There's a long history of specials for the Grey Cup. Probably the biggest of the early ones was in 1948 when the Calgary contingent travelled to Toronto and created the whole concept of the parade and party. This included riding a horse though the lobby of the Royal York Hotel. They still run extras depending on where the cup game is being played. In 2007 one such "extra" was dolled up like this: http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=213327&nseq=0 http://www.vancouversun.com/sports/Grey+train+kicks+incredible+journey+Vancouver/7196503/story.html More pics with the Globe and Mail article here: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/football/all-aboard-the-grey-cup-100-tour-train/article4507744/ Go Stamps Go !!!!! AndrewC
Found a couple more snaps. These look better and make the coaches look less like a grafittied mess. http://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=5009 http://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=5075 http://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=5076
