Hi all

Been a Silly Billy

Have a Bachmann Class 20 ( 32-143DS)

Its been ok up till last night

was using Decoder Pro 3 to adjust the Speed Tables

half way through writing them had a power cut

as i was using the main computer ( desktop on the mains )

bingo all stopped

anyway went to bed

this afternoon tried to reprogram the unit

seemed to go ok, but when put on the layout every thing seems to be ok Sounds are all there

but it wont move

so back on programing track

write 8 to CV 8 to reset decoder

all the same just sits there wont move ticks away nice horns and every thing work

at a loss what to try now

any chance someone has all the cv numbers for one of these they could e-mail me ???

so i could check if its reprogrammed ok

HI Mike. Check you haven't inadvertently set it in a ''consist''. The symptoms match, engine starts, horns blow, etc. If it is consisted, it will only move when that address is selected. Check the manual for your DCC system to unset it. HTH, kev.

Hi Kevpeo

Thanks for the reply

Not so sure about the consist bit ( never use it ) will check it out today anyway

having said that would have thought a factory reset ( 8 to cv8) would have cleared any settings there anyway

anyway played with it again this morning

with factory reset (loco at addr 3 ) every thing works

set addr to 20 ( as its been last 2 years ) no luck sits there burbling no movement

set addr to 21 ( all ok )

using elite and railmaster

deleted the class 20 setting in Railmaster Loco file to makesure there was no chance this was causing the problem

and reinstalled loco to addr 20 and reinstalled it in Railmaster ( no go )

changed addr back to 21 and only changed the file ID in Railmaster to suit works ok

back into Decoder Pro

deleted class 20 file

shut down and restarted decoder pro file gone

put loco on track reinstated loco as class 20 and assigned addr 20 to it , saved file, exit decoder pro,

back on layout same again sound no move

change back to 21 all ok

will have to look at your consist thought later as have to go out soon

rgds

Mike

This now sounds like address 20 is stuck in RailMaster or the Elite, rather than anything else. Consists within the Elite or Railmaster software are one possibility. That the loco behaves correctly on 21 suggests that the loco decoder is fine.

Does address 20 fail in just the Elite, ie. without computer attached ? If so, the problem appears to be in the Elite.
