fender
not 100% sure this is the right forum, but I have a question on using photos other people have taken in posts. maybe someone here knows. assuming you are using the embed 'Image' link, it seems to me that it's pretty obvious the photo is not yours. anybody can mouse-over the photo or right-click on it and see the link location, so I suppose there is no copyright issue with this. I mean, if I go to Joe Bloggs Train Photos site, find something I like, copy the link, paste the link into the image function here, and have the photo appear in one of my posts, I'm assuming that is ok. the photo is after all on a free-to-view public medium, and no one could claim I am suggesting the photo is mine. on the other hand, if I took a screen shot of the photo, cropped it and then pasted that into a post I made, there would be no link available to show I took it from Joe Bloggs' site. in that case, I would assume, I have violated his copyright. am I right on this? and if I am wrong, then if I include a note specifically stating where the photo is from (for the non-computer savvy), would that be ok? thanks
Andy Y
This topic should clarify our position - http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/60294-use-of-images-from-rmweb/ Your question centres around hotlinking which is specifically addressed in this post in that topic - http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/60294-use-of-images-from-rmweb/&do=findComment&comment=760194
