Nick
Does anyone have suggestions for the right buffers to use to replace the whitemetal solid buffers supplied with the tower starter class 02 kit for a set of sprung buffers? Being on the other side of the pond makes it a difficult to find small detail parts like this! It has even been difficult to try and find a supplier for O scale buffer stops! I figured Peco would make them but so far I haven't been able to find any... Cheers! Nick
RMweb Gold Donw Posted October 1, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 1, 2012 I believe there is a slight problem with the 02 in that there are steps behind the buffers and thus it needs true self contained buffers all the ones I have seen for sale are a fudge in that there is a tail with the spring and nut that shouldn't be there. I have seen advice on how to make true self contained buffers but have not seen any for sale. Obviously if you use the type with a tail it would obstruct the steps and spoil the appearance. Nick
Thanks for the response Don. Now that you mention that I can see what you mean in the photos I have of the loco. I guess the whitemetal ones might need to stay. Cheers! Nick
Giles
The appearance of White metal buffers can be improve enormously by polishing the heads with 'T' cut or a metal polish to a mirror, and then dirtying them back down.
