Postage

Thank you to those who responded to our last newsletter. There was overwhelming support for the continued use of Royal Mail as our primary mode of shipping and most customers see service as being of much greater importance than price. So that is exactly what we will do, we will use the Royal Mail for all shipments below 2kg unless courier delivery is specifically requested. Please note Courier delivery is not necessarily quicker than Royal Mail as our cutoff time for courier despatch is much earlier than that for Royal Mail.

We have looked very carefully at the costs and have decided that a slight change to the pricing structure is needed. This will better reflect the cost to us and be more fair to our customers. The result of this is that some UK delivery charges will actually fall, but others will rise. Unfortunately all international prices must rise.

We have considered offering a priority service at a premium and would like customer feedback on this. Our thoughts at present are that this would not be a good idea as we try to despatch as soon as possible anyway, we cannot always achieve same day delivery if stock is at, or in transit to a show, or if we are out of stock.

We plan to make changes to the website to better provice better information to the customers on the shipping costs.

The new price structure for UK postage will be introduced on 1st November and is as follows:

UK Shipping:

Anything that can be shipped as a Large Letter* will cost £3 P&P

Anything larger or heavier, that can be shipped as a Packet** will be £4.50 P&P up to 750g, and £1 for each additional 250g subject to a maximum of £10. At our discresion we may choose to ship by courier at no extra cost to the customer.

Anything over 2kg, over 610mm long or for any other reason we are unable to ship as a Large Letter or Packet for any reason will be sent by courier. Signatures will be required. Our standard charge for this is £10 P&P.

Regretable we are constrained by the pricing structure of our suppliers on this and our normal supplier charges extra for Highlands and Islands including Isle of Wight and also for packages over 1m long. We know this is an issue to many customers in these regions, regrettably there is nothing we can do about it, but we do remind these customers that most deliveries will be by Royal Mail and only courier deliveries attract premium prices. Where we are unable to ship within the standard cost of £10 we will search for the best value we can get and charge the lowest rate we realistically can.

*The limits for a large letter are published by Royal Mail as:

Length: 353mm max

Width: 250mm max

Thickness: 25mm max

Weight: 750g max

We can get 13" lengths corner to corner, and this size includes Evergreen Strips and Silver Steel. Almost all our packaging uses Jiffy Bags, and even empty these are too thick to to be sent as Standard Letters.

** Packet limits are published by Royal Mail as;

Size limit for packets: 610mm x 460mm x 460mm max

Size limit posters or other rolled items: 900mm max length. The length plus twice the diameter must be no more than 1040mm.

This includes all 18" and 500mm long products. The 2ft strips we offer will also fit corner to corner. It also explains why all our wood strips are 18" and not shipped in the 36" lengths we receive them in.

For Europe the rates will not change and are:

Up to 100g = £4

Up to 250g = £6

Each additional 250g to 2kg = £2

For the Rest of the World,International Postage has gone up more than UK rates, and we will have to put the prices up as soon as we can modify the website defaults. The new rates will be :

Up to 100g = £4.50

Up to 250g = £6

Each additional 250g to 1kg = £3.50

We will have to quote for over 1kg.
