Lochty no more
Some photo`s of the Kingdom of Fife Railway Preservation Society`s Ruston & Hornsby 88 DS shunter In my opinion one of the ugliest shunters on rails, no, the same shunter with ballast weights was even uglier, but I do have a soft spot for this one ( the first engine I learned to drive at the Lochty Railway ) at Lochty it was painted & lined in NBR colours as you can see the tyres are very worn on this engine but it did fire up first time after 17 years in outside storage ( largely due to Pete Westwater having the foresight to place an empty tin can over the exhaust pipe, which prevented rain water from getting into the engine )
