Hi all,

I'm sure all your hard work will pay off.

I'm looking forward to my first exhibition - I'm still trying to work out what to bring in regard to rolling stock. I'm sure my collection is small compared to some, but I'd still rather not bring it all!!

If anyone has anything they'd like to see run on it, or would like a play, please say hello!

Cheers,

James

Just under a week to go!

Hoping to put a gazebo up outside the hall for table to enjoy your teas / coffees. Also will be having a good selection of home-made cakes, plus Devon Scones!

Unfortunately Merryfield Lane will now not be attending due to transport problems, so will be replaced by Orchard Road. I will make sure that Merryfield Lane can come along next year!

Richard

We are really gutted about having to pull Merryfield Lane out of the Barnstaple show at short notice and how frustrating this is.  The turbo has blown on one of the vehicles we were going to use so is in the garage for repair.  They hoped to have it fixed by Friday but now apparently can't do this.

Hopefully we can sort something out for next year.

Sorry again.

That's fully understandable - albeit disappointed not to have Merryfield Lane. Oh, well will need to book you in for next year now!

"Tormouth Quay" safely packed in the car ready for its journey to the far north-west at the crack of cuckoo-spit in the morning.

Unfortunately, LMS 0-4-0ST 47002 failed during test this afternoon, so unfinished 47008 may have to take its place.  Other than that, everything seemed OK.

Get the bacon butties on - we'll be on our way soon!  :drinks:

Thank you for everyone who came along today, making what seems to be a very successful day. Everyone seemed to go away happy!

I will post some photos tomorrow when I've had chance to sort them out. Sitting down with a cold beer having just thoroughly enjoyed my Indian take-away!

Hi

I would like to thank Richard for the invite & to all at Barnstaple Model Railway club for making today a most enjoyable day.......

Well fed.well watered & most welcoming......Thanks again.

It was really good to meet some new friends & have a chat with people who are not as 'into' the china clay 'scene' but who nevertheless were as interested in railways & the layout but view it from a different angle....As usual some interesting questions to answer.

Just to prove we were there.....

A taster......

Hi all,

Many thanks to Richard for inviting me to the Barnstaple show. My son and I had a truly great day, and made some new friends along the way.

Thanks also to all the other people behind the scenes who helped make the day go so smoothly. I'm glad you took some photos, as I hardly had a chance to get out front - I was enjoying myself too much!

I've definitely got the exhibition bug!

Cheers,

James & Fin

Sorry didn't get chance to take many more photos, so have missed a couple of layouts. Hopefully someone else will be able to post photos.

Assuming that all the numbers work out ok, which looks likely, we will book the same venue for the last Saturday in July 2014 and will start a new thread later.

Really good exhibition guys, most enjoyable.  Very friendly with a good range of excellent layouts.  Had an operating session on Orchard Road and on the very atmospheric Tormouth Quay.

Sorry Ray, I didn't have time for a play on Yard Shunter, but you seemed to be well stocked with operators.  Shame I couldnt stay longer, but with evening commitments I had to leave by mid-afternoon.

Thanks to all the organisers, and especially to Mrs Mudmagnet, slaving over the excellent bacon butties in the kitchen.

Cheers, Dave.T
