RMweb Premium Mooresby Posted November 16, 2012 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 16, 2012 Apologies if this has been covered somewhere else on the forum, but i'm really struggling to connect my Vista laptop to my ESU 50200 Command station. I'd like to be able to download the latest firmware and some graphics but my technical ineptitude is standing in my way and the documentation isn't helping! Does anyone have idiot proof guidelines on what to do please?
two tone green
Can you tell us what you have done so far?
GoingUnderground
This often comes up on the ESU users forum. Try this link http://www.esu.eu/en/forum/forums-overview/topic/ecos_support-1/ecos_conection_to_computer_update_system_chips/?tx_mmforum_pi1%5B You will need to be logged in to the ESU Users Forum for it to work. RMweb Premium Mooresby Posted November 16, 2012 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted November 16, 2012 Can you tell us what you have done so far? Thanks - yes, i've connected an ethernet cable between the PC & the ESU.I get a red light on one side of the network port on the ESU and an intermittent flashing green one. And thats it! GoingUnderground
So you haven't used a crossover ethernet cable then?
two tone green
Hi Keith, my thoughts as well was that he has used a normal Ethernet cable instead of a cross over one. Mooresby, have you gone via your internet router or straight from PC to ECoS. The difference is the cable you use to join them up. If you have gone straight from the PC to the ECoS you need what is called a cross over cable. Looks just like a normal Ethernet cable but some of the connections in it change from one end to the other. Usually marked cross over as well to stop them getting mixed up.
