evening all, been having a look around on here for a while and thought id finally take the plunge and stick something of my own on,

 

Bringhurst is a fictional town somewhere in northern england theoretically somewhere on the outskirts of manchester. it had seen a general run down in service over the years but a recent up turn in commuters has seen the line undergo a bit of a resurgence in fortunes and the station has received a bit of a makeover and some re ballasting and track rationalisation has occcurred meaning that there is no longer the facility to run round a train any more, however the local metal works generates such traffic that an 08 is usually stabled or in use here and is occasionally borrowed to shunt release trains if no other loco is available to do so, the metal works receives several short trips of scrap metal a day usually in the hands of a class 20 or 25 but this is a well known trip working amongst local enthusiasts as it has a tendancy to throw up a wide variety of traction

 

the station is a much reduces 2 platform affair with its overall roof and many station buildings long gone, a decent level of services are now running in the hands of 1st and 2nd generation dmus, with the very occasional loco hauled substitute appearing. short parcels trains also make an appearance and now due to the run round no longer being available traisn must either be shunt released by the 08 or another loco must be found to work the outward working.

 

to the front of the station are the remains of what was the stations goods yard now reduced to a couple of short sidings used to stable locos, track machines and the odd engineers wagons as required,

 

the layout is 6ft by 2 ft scenic board with a 4ft by 2ft fiddle yard and is dcc powered ( my first venture into the world of dcc) i have a couple of sound locos as well whch i think are excellent. it was invited to a local show last month, its first outing and was generally well received but quite a handful to run by myself!! 2 people next time i think!

 

still plenty of work to do especially detailing the buildings and painting the rail sides etc etc but heres a few photos all comments welcomed :-)
