blueeighties
A break from locos today, and a bit more work on the diorama. Today I made a hardboard facia and backscene....and tried my hand at airbrushing a sky. I used some strangely shaded Humbrol blue picked up cheap at Modelzone, and played about with mixing some random white in too. I think it's came out quite effectively. Inspired by that progress, I started putting some scenery formers in. Scrap card, a pencil and a gluegun were my weapons. It's quite an interesting process, working out the 'lie of the land'. I have said in previous postings that scenery is not my strongpoint...I think this next picture proves that point! I am just making this up as I go along, and seeing what happens. It's all very enjoyable. I SO wish I had gone through this process before commencing construction of Annitsford. It would have resulted in a very different layout.
Norm81
Incase you're interested there's a bridge that now carries the hadrian's way cycle route in walker near the junction of white street and wincomblee road that looks a lot like yours but for it has stone abutments. Bit of local prototype inspiration if needed, was part of the old riverside line. I looked it up for when I get round to building mine.
blueeighties
Hi. I think I know which one you mean, passed it many a time. I should have really visited with a camera, I shall do at some point! Many thanks.

dvdlcs
Last picture in post #459 makes for a convincing snowscape :-) Even the road has that light grey colour that can be seen on cold winters days.
dvdlcs
The 08 you have ddone, it looks like the pipework is for a air braked only version, but the boxes on the running plate look like a vac only version. 08243 was an oddity. One of the early series (numbered less than 388) but for some reason (a mistake perhaps?) was refurbished and outshopped with AB only. I can't comment on the accuracy of the running plate boxes but the air brake equipment is correct, certainly for a 1980s depiction.

Jon020
I like the 08 that's just sat spinning and polishing its wheels during the 40s first pass :-) In all honesty though, yes that 40 looks nice. If there would be one thing I'd add it's that I don't ever seem to see modelled (or weathered) on these (or the relevant 37s) blackening (grunge) of the horn grills. On the real thing these are always very black in appearance and really stand out ... but I've not seen models represented this way and for me it's what makes them look not quite right. I don't know whether some thin black paint seeped in would do it... but I intend to try when I geta round to my 37 (and 40 when Bachmann do a new one of the type I want - i.e. either of the two green ones currently promised but in Blue - I don't like the split box version.) RBE
Im liking the weathering on the 40 Lee. A bit of brush work has made a world of difference! Cav

blueeighties
A few loco projects I have been working on, that are all now at the weathering stage. Hornby 56....has been renumbered as 56034, Ogwr Castle. Another one, this time kept as the original 56037 Richard Trevethick. Hornby somehow manage to print the nameplates on everything slightly oversize, so I had to remove them on both of these as the plates wouldn't cover them. This one has been fitted with a Legoman soundchip, and Shawplan roof grilles and fans. 56037 by rothburyuk, on Flickr Loving this...the transfers are custom ones courtesy of Brian at Shawplan. Need to fit a set of lights to this too. This was the Railfreight red stripe duff, re done as Gatesheads 'Aycliffe' with it's one off livery. And finally the RTC 31 is nearing completion. Something a little bit different. I still haven't got the lining onto the RTC coach I'm doing, watch this space! ash39
Never seen that 47 livery before, looks good! Bit different from plain blue.
blueeighties
With all of the recent dcc work, and light fiddling, I thought it was time to sort something a little bit more organised than bits of wire precariously wrapped around loose bits of track. So, here is the new test track, with all mod cons! DCC programming, and now fuly running with decoder pro. also standard 12v dc in both 00 and n, fed from the Gaugemaster unit you can see in the background. I have put in 12v feeds as well, for testing accessories and lights. The kitchen sink goes in tomorrow

blueeighties
Good evening. I have finally got around to working on my class 27 I bought ages ago. Sound fitted, etched fan and roof grille, and bufferbeam detail. Also painted the cab handrails yellow. I might actually keep this ex works, fresh from Eastfield. I don't know what Heljan were on when they worked out the distance between the dominoes.... All of the following have been weathered, just matt varnish and final detailing to finish. And this is my first attempt at lining an RTC coach....

blueeighties
I have just spent a fantastic weekend at the North East Railex show. One of the highlights was being able to handle and photograph these O gauge beasties. I'll let the pictures do the talking. Right. I am most definitely not off to drool over the JLTRT website
RBE
Very nice indeed. The 47 and 37043 look proper excellent!! Im not at all convinced about the bonnet on 37404 though. The top of it slopes far too much. I would seriously love one of those 47s paint up though!! Cav Edited August 26, 2013 by RBE

It is the DJH kit, why they slope that much I do not know. 043 is the Heljan vesion, and to my eyes looks the business. I really fancy a JLTRT 40.......
