Back working on the layout after a university reunion in Newcastle - 50 years since starting there. Dear, oh dear! I have raised the retaining wall by the tram depot (Faller stone structure sheet for N) and added coping stones made of card. Gap-filling, painting and weathering to follow. It looks decidedly better - and safer!

The whole wall has now been raised by a few courses of stone and coping stones added across the whole length - still working on the paving! And the painting and weathering need to be started. Oh yes, and the staff at the Köf shed have a new amenity....

A short break from tedious paving and painting retaining walls - and a return to service of my Jatt BR38 which has been on static display for quite a while. I have been generally uneasy about running either of my Jatt locos much thanks to horror stories about disintegrating white-metal motor mountings or glued mountings - but locos are there to run! They do not only look good but thanks to their metal bodies, meaty motors and large flywheels they run beautifully, too. Fingers crossed!
