BrushType4
I'm converting a dozen Parkside BR 21 Ton Coal Hopper 1/146 into a vacuum braked versions (HTO to HTV) that would have been used on the sand train workings along the St Ives - Cambrige line back in the 70's and early 80's. I'm looking for information on the vac gear layout under the body on the right hand side of the picture in the link below. http://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/br21thopperweld/h30bba2f2#h30bba2f2 Some clear pictures would be great! Can anyone help ?
jjnewitt
No really clear photos I'm affraid but there are a few on Mr Bartletts site that show it a little better than the photo you've posted the link to such, as this one: http://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/br21thopperweldrebody/hd7f15b#hd7f15b There maybe even better photos on that site. Basically the vacumm cylinder was attached to a cross shaft just behind the handle on the brake lever. This in turn was attached to the main brake cross shaft in the centre of the wagon by a rod that passed infront of the wheels and behind the W-Iron. You can make out the bracket for the vacumm cylinder cross shaft and the connecting rod in the photo I've linked. This same arrangement was used on iron ore hoppers and presflos as well as others. RANGERS
I could be wrong, but weren't the ones used on the Fen Drayton trains the same as the HTV that Parkside already do a kit for, complete with Vac brakes?

Sorry, I'm talking 7mm. Parkside unfortunately don't do the HTV version.
