Pete 75C
Realistically, what is the last year that you would have commonly seen a maroon Mk1 or Mk2 in a blue/grey formation hauled by a blue pre-TOPS diesel? Thinking service train, not departmental or heritage. Thanks, Pete.
RAIL1
Hello It s around about 1973 -1975 phil
Flood
For a Mk1 I'd also say about 1973-1974. For a Mk2 stock I have a pdf of all the coaching stock in 1970 with livery details and the last five Mk2 FK vehicles have BL for blue written in (instead of being typed as per the original document). The numbers are 13361, 13363, 13364, 13372 and 13377.
RANGERS
Etches Park had a rake of Mk1s for extras and excursion traffic which still had a maroon coach in it in 1973, it may have been there after that. This pic shows a complete set and I'd be pretty certain the odd coach in a predominantly BG set would have lasted into '74 http://www.flickr.com/photos/davidhayes/8136012290/
robertcwp
The Mark II stock that was outshopped in maroon (only one type - FK) had probably all gone into blue/grey by the end of 1967, or at the very latest 1968. Those on the West Coast Main Line appear to have gone blue/grey by the end of 1966. Mark I stock is a different matter. There was a complete set of maroon Mark I stock still running in 1974 - referred to at the time as the Derby Red Set. Some non-passenger stock probably remained maroon even longer.
