18B
Hi, I was going to visit a well kown online auction site to try to aquire some relevant timetables for the Wath area, but I wondered whether anyone on here has any information available? Ideally I'm looking for a trip notice for Wath, but I understand that these are very rare, failing that a general WTT for the area would also be really useful. regards,
andyrush
What date range are you looking at?
18B
Hi, thank you for the reply, because I imagine it could be a little difficult to find a good freight timetable for the area, any from the twenty year period from the late 1960's to when the area around wath closed in the mid 80's, ideally of course the earlier part of that period the better. andyrush
I'll make a pilgrimage to the archive (loft!) and see what I've got. Now if you had said Summer 1939, I could have done something straight away! Andy
andyrush
The archive has yielded Sheffield Area (B) Section N 7 August to 5 May 1968 Dunford West to Doncaster etc Section F 6 October 1969 to 3 May 1970 Section YF Mandatory and YJ Conditional 14 May 1979 to 11 May 1980 No supplement though, so these will only be reasonably accurate at introduction date. No Trip Notices either. State your preference! Andy
18B
Afternoon Andy, Thank you, perhaps the: Section YF Mandatory and YJ Conditional 14 May 1979 to 11 May 1980 would be good, it would give a good representation of the final year with the Woodhead open. This graphically illustrates how dependent Wath (and the MSW route as well) was on the Fiddlers Ferry coal flow. The future removal of the bulk of this coal from the route, with the completion of Drax 'B', made the savings to be had from closure irresistible to the bean counters!
