Curious for info on PXW wagon of M.A.T. Transport

Page 184 in the first book in the Freight Vehicles and Operation section of Barrowmore MRG's good book resource area:

http://www.barrowmoremrg.co.uk/Prototype.html

has a Tops code PXW wagon owned by M.A.T. Transport.

My best guess from the drawing is it was used for loading and unloading of double deck car carriers (PJA Cartic 4?) but as the info panel says it had a top speed of 75mph that suggests it ran with the train rather than waiting for one to arrive to where it was. Depending which book is looked at in the above link there seems to have been either 2 or 5 of these but i can't find any further information on them or any pictures on the internets.

So to satisfy my curiosity can anyone shed any light on these interesting wagons, what and for how long their use was, and any pictures of them out there?

Many thanks.

It is conventional to refer to the diagram number. If you mean PX015A then they will have been later rebuilds of the standard MAT carflat http://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/matcarflat Unusually they are on SR frames.

I don't have any photos of that diagram, which has some unusual features - the loading part is very short and therefore steep. Some others are in this collection http://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/carramp Yes they were to load Cartics, and similar two tier designs.

My appologees, yes it is PX015A

Good info and pics, thank you.

Were they run with Cartics or were they left at loading/unloading locations?

They stayed at the loading/unloading locations; there was one at Dover, another one, at least, at Gateshead. The '75 mph' reference probably dates to their days as car carriers- I did see the Gateshead one move once, but only the length of the siding.
