devonseasider
I have put a differnt coupling for the tender, I have put a plate on the cab end of the chassis with a hole and put a splite pin into plate from the back and put a spring on the pin and bend the end of the splite pin, on the tender solder springy wire underneath with a hook to couple onto the splite pin, the idea of this is so the tender is close coupled and when on a curve the tender will pull on the splite pin against the spring and goes back to normal when off the curve. Ray - I've done exactly that on a few tender locos. Works very well. Sometimes easier to do it the other way round - wire hook on loco, split pin on tender (still comes down to the same thing!). RAY NORWOOD
Ray - I've done exactly that on a few tender locos. Works very well. Sometimes easier to do it the other way round - wire hook on loco, split pin on tender (still comes down to the same thing!). Hi Graham Great minds think alike. To do the other way, I think it depends on the loco or kit you are building. As on this kit there is the hinged plate in the cab which is on the tender, some locos have this plate on the loco. So the reversed coupling would be better on the other way. RAY70B
RAY NORWOOD
ANOTHER UPDATE I have finished painting the chassis. I have put on Hallfords Gray Primmer first, then airbrushed Humbrol Matt Black, Now it is waiting for the wheels to be put on and the motor and gear box also the coupling rods. Started on the Tender today. I have put together the sub frame, the main frame goes inside the sub frame which holds the wheels will be done later. One side soldered on. The other side soldered on with the front put in place. The front has been soldered on and the back end soldered in place. RAY70B

I have done a bit of detail on the body, on the side of the smokebox there is some pipe work from the lubecator and I think it is a none return valves, I have made it out of plasticard and pipes is made from 5amp fuse wire. I put 5amp fuse wire on the chassis under the smokebox to run to the lubecator

RAY NORWOOD
TODAYS UPDATE Sunday morning I put the second coat of matt black on the tender and the loco body and then I went to the chassis and put on the buffer heads and the screw coupling. This morning I have done some detailing paint work on the body and tender also the red on the buffer beam. Then I got the transfers out and put the numbers on the cab sides, I have a picture of 33010 with out the crest on the tender in 1963 but in 1959 at Hither Green she had a general service at Ashford in 02 July 1959 back in service in 27th July 1959 so she must have come out of Ashford with late crest. As I am modelling 1948 onwards I am going to put the early crest on So here some up to date pictures as she is know. RAY70B
