Class 47 Visible Engine Room Detailing

I have just started work with one of my Bachmann Class 47 and the plan is to install a couple of tiny LEDs inside the chassis adjacent to the 2 small windows (on one side only) to create engine room lighting (this will take current from the main lights, be on permanent with the lights and explains why I am only doing this on one side of the loco).

As the chassis block is virtually right up against the bodyshell by the windows this has necessitated some "removal of material" to a depth of about 5mm.  The position of the windows vs the chassis allows this work to be done without causing any break throughs.

Two questions;

1.  I cant seem to find any really good photographs showing the engine room windows of Brush 47s close up to be able to see any real detail inside.  My model is 47461 ScotRail which will remain unchanged and tbh I'm struggling to find anything of real use on this particular loco for the period circa 1986 or similarly ScR allocated machines with the same internals as Charles Rennie.  If you have any good links to galleries with this sort of close up photography I would appreciate them.

2.  If i want to take power from the head/tail light circuit where would be the best point to spur a couple of wires from? Direct from the PCB or from the back of one ends lighting circuit where the LEDs are?

Electronics arent my strong point but I can cope OK with a soldering iron, steady hand etc.  Just not sure about splicing 2 LEDs in - also will the LEDs need resistors as the loco is 16v DCC.  The LEDs are no more than 12v - does the protection come via the decoder thus not requiring any other work  bar soldering the wires in?  I appreciate it may not be this simple.  I think protection is provided by the decoder for lighting but I could be wrong.......

Thanks.

Regarding the engine room detail all I can suggest is that you send a p.m. to EE 8SVT as I know he works as a volunteer at the Midland Railway Centre, Butterley. Steve may be able to take some good photos of 47401 for you. That said, the internals may be slightly different to those of 47461 so I don't know if any pictures of 401 would be of use to you.

Ive found a couple of pics but whats niggling is that Im not sure if the detail matches this loco.

This is the area that I plan to fit lighting in but it would be good to know whether the pipework is correct for 461.

I have done a mock up - the brass rod used has simply been taped inside just for the photo.  Pity the glazing edges are so deep inside but I might cut some notches out of the sides to allow the pipes to be glued right against the glazing.

The same applies to Class 47/7s - were details any different through these side windows????

Also this is obviously just the one end - I havent a clue if the window at the other end has any modellable detail?

I dont recall seeing any sort of pipework.......

For 47461, the Spanner MkIII boiler would be behind the window you have chosen. Let me see if I have anything for 47105 which was also a Spanner boilered loco.

EDIT: Found the ones I posted last time. Irrespective of the boiler, the first thing you can see are some air pipes. On the other side at number two end, there is nothing directly behind the window (see 47105). On the driver's side at number one end (See 47701+47376) there is the fuel tank and this sight should be common across all variations.
