Leicester Thumper
hello all, two quick fire questions as I am doing a few hours of work on some stuff making repairs and adjustments... most Graham farish engines of the old kind and old BachFar stuff have these ceramic disc caps in them for suppression??? I believe, what I need to know is, is it really essential that I have one in there or not? secondly are they normally all the same rating? one I just knocked off (d'oh) out of a J69 is 470MF which in my books is 470 Micro Farads? if they are all the same then I will buy a load off ebay to keep me going. cheers, Bruce
PLD
No - not essential: the loco will work perfectly well without them, and IIRC the recomended DCC conversion method requires their removal...
