Nobby (John)
In the episode of Silent Witness tonight there is a story of an abandoned nuclear train in a sealed tunnel, There were detailed shots of an abandoned Class 56 with a "warload" wagon (BBC SCRIPT) in an old tunnel. Does anyone know where this was filmed? Cheers John
Trains4U
I believe there is an old 56 in the tunnel at Wansford on the Nene Valley Railway. It's a possibility...
gordon s
Probably the same tunnel with the Strategic Reserve...

Looks like you are right, further surfing has found a thread on another forum where the BBC were filming for Silent Witness in the tunnel on May 22nd 2012

RMweb Premium Welly Posted February 2, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 2, 2013 Just watched it on iPlayer - don't let on that the loco was not built until the late 1970s but that it was involved in a 1962 incident!! Mind you it is plausible for a Beeching listed railway line to suddenly close permanently "due to tunnel collapse" during the early 1960s.
