Earl Bathurst
Hi I have been weathering ready to run locos and rolling stock but the weathering which I apply comes of very easy so was going to use enamel matt varnish. Should I weather the item then apply matt varnish or matt varnish then weather the loco? I don't want the pains to react. Which is the best way to do this? Thanks Scott
matto21
Depends what you've used to do the weathering - if you've used enamels why don't you use an acrylic matt varnish - that way they won't react with the paint?
Earl Bathurst
I have used humbrol enamel and I bought humbrol enamel matt varnish. Would they react? Scott

Scott As Mike says, I'd definately try it out on a test piece first. I used to use an enamel varnish and found it affected the oil/enamel weathering - nothing major but enough to convince me to use an acrylic varnish. darren01
HI I would not use Hunbrol varnish, having painted wargaming figs for years i can tell you that it will go yellow over time ,if you are using weathering powders i would use an artist pastel fixer,if you are not phoenix do a very good Matt varnish in their range,in a spray can,Just a happy customer. Hope this helps. Darren
