Hugh Flynn
Hi after going to Leeds yesterday dropped in at PC World looking at new camera,s i have a Nikon D40 which is great but i find when i go to shows its a bit big for taking around so i was wanting something like a compact to put in my pocket or similar. The 3 that took my eye was Nikon S230 ,Casio S12 or i loved the feel of the Sony H20 Have any of you bought the Sony or the others as its for mostly Railway models/real and i find fellow enthusiasts will give there true pros/cons. Or any other recommendations Budget ??200 thanks Hugh
shortliner
Hugh - I don't know if this will help - but for exhibition/ wander-around-with it-in-my-pocket use, I have a Sanyo Xacti 9.1 mp CG9 which does single shots and video, and saves to SD card. An Xelelent bit of kit and well under ??200 - Google says they are doing an HD version for about the ??200 mark . There is a video review here and you DON'T have to have it in PINK - Mines black! There is a video review of the HD version here No connection - just a happy user!

Lord of the Badgers
200 quid Hugh? Panasonic TZ6. Hands down, best camera in its class IMO - excellent build quality, great lens (25-300 mm) and good anti-shake. http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Panasonic/panasonic_dmczs1.asp Stretch to the Tz7 at around 250 best price - bigger rear screen & "HD" movies. Same otherwise. Tz8 & TZ10 announced only today, but replace both respectively. You may get better deals as a result Further reading (group test) http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/Q209grouplongzoom/page16.asp My old man has the 7 & my bro-in-law promptly copied him
