Miss Prism
When was the 1906 perimeter lining of bufferbeams discontinued?
buffalo
According to the 1954 Swindon diagram No 97520A reproduced in Russell and GWW, it lasted until 1947. Of course, it wouldn't have been applied after 1915, but was re-instated in the 1922/3 instructions for express passenger engines only. Presumably the same applied in many cases between 1942-5. Miss Prism
According to the 1954 Swindon diagram No 97520A reproduced in Russell and GWW, it lasted until 1947. Do you believe it actually lasted until 1947? (Wartime expediences excepted of course.)
buffalo
That, of course, is quite a different question. The best I can find so far is several photos of stars and castles at Paddington around 1936-9, all with clear signs of the orange line (GWRJ 76). I've not yet seen any clear post-war examples other than those in preservation. Nick
