Fuggles
What is the best way to represent the ground in an area where coal wagons are shunted and unloaded? I thought of using sand mixed with polyfilla and then painted but wonder if it might be a bit too coarse for 00. Any suggestions and/or recommended books or magazine articles would be appreciated. 28XX
You would be better advised to put such questions in the appropriate area of the forum e.g. "Modelling questions, Help and Tips". Fine (e.g. children's sandpit) sand / polyfilla / black powder paint mix has worked for me in the past. If you are modelling the steam era, then the ground between the track can be quite smooth, due the the passage of many feet. Have fun making dips then filling then with varnish or PVA to make puddles, scatter loose coal and grey scenic powder (for ash) here and there, but sparingly. Keep a 4mm scale human figure handy to keep a sense of proportion, too many goods yards seen in model form look like the Somme.
