Sandwich & Ashford Model Railway - Running Session Videos

Recommended Posts

Day four on the layout involved tidying, testing and some lighting completed. Testing the layout tracks in terms of electrics proved worthy with some faults found which could have been difficult to sort after ballasting. Finally, the sandwich platform has been fixed to the board and lights added and wired up. Access bridge to the station has been built and is in the process of being painted but ran out of paint.....  Tomorrow I begin to ballast....

The rest of today I have spent decodering lights of the Networker and Southern 171.

These units can be seen in future videos of the layout.

Over the weekend I have been adding scenery to the Sandwich Platform and building the fence across the back of the platform.

I have also got some more benches and another Hornby modern shelter for the platform.

Other additions to the platform will be some information signs, station nameboards, advertising and gluing the access bridge into position.

Here are some pictures of the latest scenery work:

Video news - did a lot of filming to do three videos around 10 mins or less for each.

plan is for two videos of OO Gauge layouts and another video for N gauge.

as before with the Warley videos I have only videoed modern image layouts which suits my era of modelling.

they upload train is currently on the slow line. Videos posted below upon arrival!

Layout news - purchases included depot accessories, buffer lights, greenery items and a train to be announced in the near future....

  • 2 weeks later...

An update on what I have been up to;

Fitting more signals to the layout including a route indicator number for platforms at Ashford approach line.

Starting a new project with wagons to go with my colas engines.

Continuing the never ending project of the electrostar.

Although I say never ending I hope its near ending on recent good progress.

For the next week I will be uploading pictures of the stages of livery application to the Southeastern Electrostar.

Before revealing the full sets new livery and running of the set in a project video on YouTube.

So here is the first stage which is decodering the cars. Each car has a decoder with the middle car having the motor for the train and the rear and front having directional lighting.

Some more stages of the Electrostar livery painting process.

I will add that the cab ends had been previously painted and completed prior to the re-paint process.

The yellow doors are first painted onto the coach.

Then the black outline for the doors is put on.

Before the solebar is masked and painted on.

The centre car livery was completed earlier and requires the windows to be added on.

post-18424-0-12103900-1395336707_thumb.jpg

The windows will all be 'blacked out' due to the motor, decoders and wires in the car and the fact I never took the windows out of the body shell in the first place when cutting down the cars. So covering up my muck up at the same time :D.

Hi,

Just read through this thread, and I'm very impressed with your work. This is just the sort of layout I would like to start to build in place of my N gauge now I have a little son who WILL want to play trains with daddy.

Just a couple of questions:

What are the baseboard dimensions?

Is the track all setrack?

Keep up the good work.
