45669
Afternoon All, I have just put some pictures of the newly laid track at Summit Cutting on Flickr. I was on a working party in January, 1978 and, as was the common practice, we put lumps of rock or ballast under the wheels of the waggons to stop them rolling away downhill. However, we did this after laying another length of track, but the waggon still rolled away...but in the wrong direction! it rolled towards Blaenau instead of Porthmadog and we knew that we had gone over the summit. For the first time ever, the FR now had a down gradient towards the top end of the line. The pictures were on Fotopic once, so some of you may remember seeing them. However, for anyone that did not, or for anyone that would like to see them again, here's the link to the first of the pictures on Flickr : R5825. Summit Cutting. January, 1978. by Ron Fisher, on Flickr Clicking on the picture will enlarge it and take you to the others. Hope that they are of interest.

Ian Fester Fideles No, Bunny was too busy shouting at us deviationists, we were some way in front of the P'way gang. Maybe at Tan y Grisau at this time. Merf. Interesting pictures Ron.
