deeslexia
Somewhat unexpectly , I was tempted by 4x Matchbox trams plus Diddler and two buses. For £13 in total for playing around with.I have seen one motorised to suit n gauge, and wondered if n gauge double tram track would allow two trams to pass ?I am not sure of the scale, I was thinking HO .Far from correct, but may open up inexpensive opportunities for a tiny layout.I was thinking of a starter Tomix track on e-bay from Japan. PLD
I am not sure of the scale, I was thinking HOAssuming they are the "Yesteryear" series tram, they are approximately HO... They have been motorised on both 9mm and 12mm gauges. wondered if n gauge double tram track would allow two trams to pass ?Surely, that depends how far apart you lay the tracks!!! deeslexia
I would love to have a motorised HO Matcbox tram, but just can't do cutting metal etc. Is anyone prepared to give me a cost for doing this ? Or knows a man that can ?
RMweb Gold Joseph_Pestell Posted August 26, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 26, 2013 Not sure if I know which tram model you are referring to. The matchbox one that I am familiar with is to about 1:160 scale and of a London tram (E1 I think). Fitting a motor to that would be the easy part. Gears would be the problem. I am fairly sure that it has been done though. If your model is indeed HO (or thereabouts), a Hanazono "spud" or Black Beetle should do the trick for a 4-wheel tram. Specialist producers do kits for bogie trams.
deeslexia
Thanks, it's the Matchbox Yesteryear tram, pictured, which is said to be near HO. As for my technical abilities, I just broke a Corgi tram trying to take it apart-rivets too close and drill bit too big=snap to both end platforms .
