REC Farnborough
Following the success of the 'Ex-Members day in June, the following week saw us off to Swanage for a 'Steam hauled excursion' behind 'Tornado'. however, by then the heatwave was in full blast and whilst Swanage in the sun was lovely - the steam-ban wasn't! However the diesel fans were somewhat mollified when traction was provided by two class '67's with royal connections! Despite the disappointment over the loco, all agreed it was a good day out! Sunday 18th August saw us off on round three of the celebrations with a trip to Pendon in the morning and Didcot in the afternoon. 'Pendon' provided it's usual 'model magic and Didcot - following an extensive guided tour of the site - provided us with our own train! (Our thanks to David Castle - one of the guides - who took this splendid photo) The trip was rounded off by an excellent cold buffet at a local hostelry in Pangbourne. So now there's only our Exhibition left - but what an exhibition! We are at Woking Liesure Centre on 14-15 September with nearly 30 class layouts including 'Gresley Beat', 'Mostyn' 'Bad Aston' and the clubs new 7mm layout 'Netherley' - so why not take a day out & join us in rounding off our Diamond Jubilee Year!
