DonB
The winding gear on the Bridgnorth Funicular is based on colliery practice, and uses a typical colliery headshaft spoked wheel (working horizontally) at the top of the rail incline. My model track centres are 34 mm so I could use a wheel between 33 and 36mm. Can anyone tell me the diameter of the wheel on the Hornby R9628 headshaft model? And better still, where can I find one? It seems to be out of production, and none available on Ebay! I'm awaiting an answer from Margate on this subject.
Madcaravanner
Think you may have to utilise a model cart wheel and alter the rim as I can't seem to find any Faller ones either (they used to do a pit top model)
DonB
Thanks for the thought of a cart wheel as a possibility. I hadn't considered that! ... I'll search through the catalogues.
Arthur
Don, I can't post a direct link at the moment but put this into eBay search, 2 x Colliery Sheave Wheels - OO 3D printed, not cheap at £17.50 per pair, but very nice. I bought a pair for a future project. Arthur Edit; Don, just noticed that you are looking for something around 36mm in diameter, these might be a bit big. Checked, they're 48mm diameter.
