69843
Well, after years of attempting to get down to it, I finally visited the ILRMS, who was celebrating 100 years of the locomotive Wallaby, Hawthorn & Leslie 2988, built in 1913. Locomotive Tully 6 (Perry 7967/49/1) on the train (made up of an ecclectic mix of ex-trams, railmotor coaches and a cable car!). Hudswell Clarke 1706/1939 Cairns simmering after having had a run earlier in the day. I think the livery looks stunning on this locomotive personally. Kiama (Davenport Locomotive Works 1596/1917) sits cooling down in the shed, with a wisp of steam and the smell of warm oil surrounding her. Newbold started life as Krauss steam locomotive 0-4-0WT 2179 of 1889, before being rebuilt in 1938 into its current form of Leyland Krauss hybrid. ('scuse the dodgy shot) Hawthorn Leslie 3574/1923 0-4-0ST. The cab has two seperate floors either side of the frames, its just that low! Fowler/Rolls Royce 0-6-0DH 21912/1937. This actually is from the same mills as the Perry. Vernier Man Car out in the 'carpark', ready to move back into the sheds And Wallaby, the whole reason for the festival. You didn't happen to see how they were progressing with the Shay restoration did you? Matt. I did, and the bits are still laying around the place. I will re-attempt to visit soon, and remember to take some pictures of the 'dynamited' boiler Edited 23:14-Aparrently the crankshaft has recently been completed, and the frame with the new 2' bogies are stored somewhere.
