Garethp8873
Hello guys! Wondering if anyone can shine any information on this GWR Clerestory for me? Had it in the collection now for a few years and I am soon going to be sending it to a mate to overhauled for use on my layout. Corridor connections are odd too, one end it is on the far left and other end it is in the middle. I thought it was a Mail Clerestory but I do not have a clue!! ATB! Garethp8873. rovex
Hi, I think its a K9, 48' baggage van, built for the Ocean mails, with normal stock one side and TPO stock the other. Were then transferred to the TPOs until the 1930s according to Russell, Pictorial Record of Great Western coaches Pt 1, page 133. The drawing in the book appears to show the other side to your photo. Nice looking coach by the way. Dean
Garethp8873
Here's the other side for you rovex and thank you. I have had it for a few years now and now it is time for it to get a well deserved overhaul. Garethp8873.
rovex
yup that side definitely matches the drawing. The single doors at this end are the guards compartment, and presumably prevents passengers wandering into the mail train. The single window at the other end appears to the toilet.
