DanielB-that's the most enthusiastic  response to this Thread so far. I hope you will continue  to drool!

And Jack, no need of apologies, thank you,  we know each other too well for that.

Whilst posting I thought I might add this-more chunky rail roading.

Over the course of the last few posts a number of covered grain hoppers have appeared as part of the scene, here they are seen close up.

This is as much to offer my views on weathering where much has been written. What is trying to be represented is the affects over time of many different elements, loads carried, rain, snow, hot, cold, geographic, age, repair for example. It doesn't happen all at once. So I take a measured approach, and it is very much a suck it and see one, I use innumerable light washes, first of acrylics to kill the plastic shine and then water colour (the great advantage of which is that it can be washed off it it doesn't suit.)

I also use a light hand, most cars are in a reasonable condition-apart from graffiti and that I abhor-even there it is often not excessive. I am, of course, fortunate in that I can readily see  the real thing. And maybe what I see is not true elsewhere.

good batch of grain wagons,

like the UP loco's, any particular reason why USA uses locos with the cab close to one end, would have thought a UK cab at each end would be more useful, the visibilty would be better without the long or short hood in the drivers line of sight

Ralph, the number of different roads and their colour schemes is one of the attractions to me of modelling the American prototype. In all I have a fleet of about 30 covered hoppers of various types and roads.

As to loco design I'm no expert on their evolution, but I like the older long nose type and they are more typical of the 1980's period I model.

Last week a member was complaining there was little happening on RM web, well here is a contribution.

Maybe it will, maybe it won't but I would hope the images might attract interest, excite comment and even stimulate a comment.

They were all taken around Top Yard, see layout plan in post #10.

Nothing happens!

Unable to post any images. No reason given-see 'FAULTS and HELP.'
