adanapress
What does one do about a burnt out motor on a Cass 15. as Howes have had no spares provided, nor it seems for the Class 16, which might perhaps be similar. Is there something Japanese that can be fitted??
34theletterbetweenB&D
Or quite possibly by Buhler, as they have been the usual motor supplier to Heljan? One would rather hope that Howes could advise, or eventually source a spare... DIY, dimension it by diameter of the can and length over the can not including the protruding bearings, and shaft diameter and lengths; then search data sheets from motor stockists like Branchlines, Mainly Trains, Hollywood Foundry, any other likely suspects. adanapress
Many thanks 34C, I will be following your recommendations I wish Heljan produced service sheets or something similar.
34theletterbetweenB&D
There should be a parts listing in the box, and the motor is part 56. The information says to send the catalogue number (which appears to be item 15071 on the class 15 before me) with the part number when requesting spares. Apply to: Heljan UK, 12 Banbury Road, Kidlington, Oxford. OX5 2BT. But I guess that's where you have already asked? Never having yet needed a Heljan spare my further knowledge is non-existent.
