I know this should be posted elsewhere, under publications, media etc. but I recommend Bob Masterman's You Tube 'channel'

.

He has both steam and diesel, from the 1960s to the present, both video and stills.

.

Try these for size.

Cheers Brian - he's got some cracking stuff on there.

In fact, one of his videos of Corus shunters working into the Knuckle Yard at Margam has been really useful in being able to see the details of the bogies on the Brush Bagnall bo-bo's for a model I'm slowly building. I had copies of the bogie GA's but these didn't tie up to any of the photo's I had, until Bob's video demonstrated that there were two different designs in use across the fleet, and all my photos were of one design and the drawings of the other!

Many thanks for highlighting these. How were his video's at Margam taken - can you get near to the yard on public rights of way?

Regards

Alastair

Alastair,

.

I believe they were taken from the public footpath which is known as 'Heol-y-deiliad'.

.

If you leave the M4 at Jct.38 and turn off into the lane that leads to Margam Crematorium - carry on along the lane, passing the new 'biomass ?' or wooden fired power station and then the BOC plant on your right until you reach the very end, you can't miss the end, there's a gate across the road.

.

You can cross the South Wales Main Line on the level here, on the public footpath, then it crosses the O.V.E. line and then the throat at the down end of the Margam Knuckle Yard including the lines into the Corus works and the lines to Grange Sidings.

.

All perfectly legal - it's a public footpath

.

Brian
