7mm Craig and Mertonford Buildings

P D Hancock's house move in 1987 from his Edinburgh flat to a nearby bungalow led to the dismantling of his 4mm Craig and Mertonford Railway [CMR] followed by the building in the attic of his new house a 7mm version of the CMR and the Torlum Hill Light Railway in his new garden.  Following his death in 2011 the Torlum Hill garden railway and the 7mm CMR were dismantled and most of the items from the lines have been or are being sold.  That said most of the buildings from the 7mm layout are now in the safe keeping of the Edinburgh & Lothians MRC/M MacLeod P D Hancock Collection though a small number of buildings did slip into private hands.

As far as I am aware the only written description of the 7mm layout was 'Return to Craig' in the Railway Modeller in November 2001. In the RM article PD admits to 'cheating' and using as much commercial and proprietary equipment as possible. Some buildings were his own work however some were built for him by 'Little Jem Models' or are from kits or, have come from other layouts.

I have uploaded photos, with brief captions, of the 7mm buildings in the Collection for those who may be interested.  These can be found at: https://picasaweb.google.com/112904466287746079405/7mmCraigAndMertonfordRailwayBuildings?noredirect=1#

PD experimented with forced perspective on the 7mm CMR in that immediately behind a row of 7mm buildings was a row of 4mm buildings salvaged from the 4mm CMR. These 4mm buildings are also in the E&LMRC P D Hancock Collection and can be seen at: https://picasaweb.go...PDHancockSCraig#
