black and decker boy
Another sampler off Kirkmellington. This time it's the colliery shed water tank. Originally a Bachmann boiler load, this represents the common practise of hoisting an old boiler onto a stillage for further, unpressurised use. Further updates will follow from time to time as various bits get finished.

black and decker boy
Kirkmellington passed its first test, enjoying a successful visit to Risex. Focus now turns to Rochdale and progressing with the detail and maybe back scenes. Something to give a hint of what will be on show

black and decker boy
That's a very minimalist and neat lighting rig! Care to elaborate? Everything is detailed on my blog http://kirkmellington.wordpress.com/blog/ Very lightweight and easy to handle. Just awaiting an equally lightweight facia to hide the cable ties. 5050
Much obliged to you sir! Off now to have a read! The 'Aberbeeg' layout at Nottingham were using LED Striplights and they passed this supplier on to me - http://www.ledhut.co.uk/led-strip-lights.html Could be an alternative to Maplin. johnd
Have been looking at some pics of New Hey taken in the Mid 60's and it appears that the sidings on both sides of the mainline had not had a visit from the weedkiller train. Also the wooden fencing appears to be getting weathered. Source of pics Newton Heath Engines at work 1948-1968, Paul Shackloth. Great model but always had a feeling that the sidings were a little bit too manicured for the era. Always love seeing it in action it's just that the decay of the area was just beginning. Can't wait to see Andy's next model.
