Clean up

I've lived with the Santa Fe ever since the pinstripe blue, through yellow bonnet, Kodachrome, and the resuscitation of the red warbonnet. I don't think the red warbonnet ever looked quite right on freight units, including the original U28CGs. Unless it was kept clean, it looked awful, as it now often does on units where the paint is 15-20 years old. The orange seems to have aged a lot better. BNSF seems to want to keep units in warbonnet as long as they can, but frankly, it's probably time to put em out of their misery.

Dear JWB,

I've lived with the Santa Fe ever since the pinstripe blue, through yellow bonnet, Kodachrome, and the resuscitation of the red warbonnet. I don't think the red warbonnet ever looked quite right on freight units, including the original U28CGs. Unless it was kept clean, it looked awful, as it now often does on units where the paint is 15-20 years old. The orange seems to have aged a lot better. BNSF seems to want to keep units in warbonnet as long as they can, but frankly, it's probably time to put em out of their misery.

Having never felt particularly found of the "trad" gleaming multi-F-unit passenger Warbonnet,
the current "hard weatherbeaten, exhaust fired, fade to pinkish, dusty/musty/rusty" warbonnet appearance somehow feels "right" to this NG-logging-backgrounded modern-era weathering fan... ;-)
(with the swapped-out orange AC unit on the LH side just to mess things up furthur... ;-) ).

Happy Modelling,
Aim to Improve,
Prof Klyzlr
