Chameleon
I have a Hornby sound fitted Black 5 for a couple of years. Am I right in assuming it has a Loksound 3.5? It seems to be a pretty poor runner. Can I fit a capacitor or some sort of keep alive unit to it to improve the running? If so, what should I use? Nigelcliffe
Scroll down the topics a little to "Stay alive capacitors", and read the thread. That covers LokSound 3.5's from about half-way through the thread. Its not a trivial operation, but the thread does indicate what needs fitting where. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/43324-stay-alive-capacitors/ However, I'd start by cleaning the wheels, track and pickups. A Black 5 has eight wheels on each side, and that's a lot of potential pickups to ensure good running.
pipparooba
Thx Nigel fir the info. I've just had my class 31 out today and to say it ran like a old drunk down a street would be a understatement
