TomJ
I have just started out in DCC and have chipped a couple of my N gauge locos with digitrax decodes. They say they are DC compatiable. So if I want to run them on a friends DC layout can I just run them as they are? Or do I need to change any settings on the programming track first? Thanks. Crosland
Plonk them on, turn the dial on the controller and away you go. Just like any DC loco So long as DC running is enabled in CV29. Andrew
TomJ
So just to be a really clueless newby how do I know if DC is enabled?
Brian
It won't run on dc if its turned off! The default setting for a new decoder or DCC Fitted loco is dc operation enabled.
Orange Alco
Just beware though of strange effects from any pulse or ripple in the output of a DC controller that the decoder may attempt to interpret as a DCC command. Also, the acceleration rates in the decoder will apply. Finally you may have to turn the DC controller to zero before reversing direction - flicking the reverse switch over as we all so often do may not reverse the train.
