Hi there,

Following on From Foxfield Tunnel and after alot of head scratchimg and the trawling of BVE Network West Midlands sim, I've finally decided on Longleigh Loop as my next modelling location http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/public/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif.

So, lets set the scene....People familiar with the sim will know its location. Longleigh station is situated on the Norton to Wellingham Ludgate Hill commuter line, White Heath station to the north and Ruskin Park to the south. The loop line which is used as a freight passing loop and the entry/exit point to the British Chemical Industries plant is located just to the south of Longleigh station. Local passenger services operated by Central Trains are Norton/Miller Street - Ludgate Hill, Salford Bridge - Ludgate Hill and Whitminster - Ludgate Hill. Miller Street - London bound semi fasts are operated by Chiltern Railways and Virgin Cross Country Manchester - Reading/Gatwick services all pass through Longleigh Loop. Plenty of freight diagrams to come!

Longleigh Loop differs greatly from Foxfield Tunnel (my previous layout), set in a grubby, industrial part of the midlands with factories and terraced houses a-plenty. To one side of the track you have the chemical plant and to the other, set on a bank is a row of terraced houses and more factory units. Lots of kit building to do and theres also a nice selection of signalling to modelhttp://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/public/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif.

So, where are we at then.....? The two 6ftx2ft scenic and traverser baseboards are both made up, with the track and pointwork loosely laid, just to see how it looks! Theres still some more framework and the legs to make up. I'm hoping to build the layout as a portable (carpenrty skills permitting!), and it will also incorporate DCC soundhttp://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/public/style_emoticons/default/blink.gif . Still lots to do. Hopefully some pics to follow.
