JMK
Steam on the Levels is returning, and this year it is hoped to be bigger and better! Being held on Saturday the 17th and Sunday the 18th of May 2014, all details are available on the website www.wzlet.org however these are the bits that might be of interest to modellers/railway buffs: Two visiting locos to the Westonzoyland Light Railway to run with our resident locos Simplex 40S and Lister Railtruck. These visiting locos should be a Lister Railtruck with V-Twin JAP engine just restored, and a modified Wickham Trolley. It is also hoped that we can be joined by the West Huntspill Model Engineers with there 5" miniature ride on railway. This was a great attraction last year for all the family, they also demonstrated some garden railway steam items (radio controlled) We also hope to have a model industrial railway by a member from the Purbeck Mineral and Mining Museum. This was on display on the cottage, but this year he might be able to bring a tram layout. Overall the whole weekend has diverse range of exhibits and is well worth a visit. The museum will also run its collection of Stationary Steam Engines and Pumps possibly the largest collection in Great Britain at just under 30!
