117puzzler
Hi there I would like to pick the masses brains on whether the coil P conversions only used the palbrick B as a basis or if the other types of palbrick were converted. Also around when did these "stand in" vehicles cesed being used for steel traffic. Cheers. Adam.
HGT1972
They were quite complex - there were two diagrams 1/242 and 1/243. The former used just six of the Palbrick Cs of diagram 1/025 and the latter around 330 Palbrick Bs of 1/022 and 1/024. The biggest pool of them in 1973 was coil from Lackenby to various while two years later 220 were carrying import coil from Goole. One became a Coil Y and 26 to Coil Vs (with a spigot for eye-to-sky coil). They were generally replaced by Bogie Coil Ps (ex-Bogie Bolster E) modified with the transferred wooden cradles off these Palbrick conversions. Hope that makes some sense?!
