My dad built a layout when I was little and more recently my wife bought me the Hornby Mallard set when our first son was born. 5 years, lots of Thomas locos bought plus a few for myself and I am about to begin construction of my first proper layout in my garage. It will be about 8ft x 10 -14ft max, and hopefully on pulleys up to the roof. The plan is nearly decided. I'm going to have a MPD loosely based on part of the St Margarets Depot, a suburban station and a goods yard with maybe a scenic run. The first Metcalfe kit has been built.
