Old Time Workshop
Could someone please confirm the overall sizes of a turbot wagon body? I have some John Grey kits which look a little suspect on width. Many thanks, Simon.
Fat Controller
Could someone please confirm the overall sizes of a turbot wagon body? I have some John Grey kits which look a little suspect on width. Many thanks, Simon. From the drawings in August 1985 Model Railway Constructor by Trefor Mann:- 6858 mm bogie centres 9754 mm over headstocks 9742 mm inside. 2713 mm o/a width 2555 mm width between doors 2535 mm width between stanchions 1862 mm rail head to body top They don't indicate the depth of the body sides on the drawing. Hope this is of help. Brian
hmrspaul
Could someone please confirm the overall sizes of a turbot wagon body? I have some John Grey kits which look a little suspect on width. Many thanks, Simon. It was 37 1/2 inches from the underneath of solebar/headstock to the top lip of the side. The width across the outside of the corner stanchions was precisely 100 inches. Trev always used the dimensions as on the diagrams (not from the diagrams but if the diagram was in mm then so were the dimensions he gave) I mention this because the wagon was built to Imperial dimensions - very rounded inches for most of the key dimensions!
