stock_2007
Would anyone have any ideas who makes this type of bell and where I could pick 2 or 3 up. I've looked over on the Details West site as I was sure they did them but no joy. The really sad part is I was given two by Jon Grant and I've put them in a really safe place!!! As always any help is very welcome
Adrian Wintle
For what loco? Is this an under-frame bell? Miniatures by Eric does some bells, mostly for CN or CP applications. http://www.miniaturesbyeric.com/itmidx3.htm Adrian
doctor quinn
Detail Associates make the "gong" electric type; number 1204, is that what you're looking for? Nick
stock_2007
Hi, yes its the low/hood gong type bell I'm after. I've found a few sites where their talking about using this bell on CNW locos but sadly not where their sold. I'm in need of a bell for both a Kato SD40-2 and SD38-2 and a cut-down GP9 that will need one soon.
Glorious NSE
Nick is correct DA1204 - try the usual detail parts, or US ebay (although that will make it an expensive bit if that's all you're getting...)
doctor quinn
Highball Graphics or JT Prantle on US eBay are good. Nick
stock_2007
I've been able to order '4' gong bells (all they had) from ENGINEHOUSE Services so now for the fun part of cutting out the short-hood for them.
RMweb Premium cnw6847 Posted February 15, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 15, 2014 Plano Model products make a brass etch for the gong mount, it comes with a template. I've got one but not used it yet. I measured the area out before cutting when I done a couple of GP40's http://www.planomodelproducts.com/18421.html http://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/565-18421
stock_2007
Thanks I think I'll take a look at the Plano Model etching set, I've been told its just as easy to use p/card I'm not sure. I really liked the Plano Models kit for the SD18 that is something I'd like. Just one thing you may be able to help with on the site it talks about the UP low hood SD24 loco sadly the spare loco I have is a former SF SD26 I wonder if the kit would still fit? Glorious NSE
The rebuilt SD26s have some fairly major body mods on the long hood versus the stock SD24s, so you might want to take that into account before deciding to subsitute?
